Life at Pope John Paul II Academy
At Pope John Paul II Academy, education extends far beyond the classroom. Our students grow together through seasonal events, community service, outdoor recreation, and the bonds of friendship forged in a close-knit Catholic school family.
Annual San Juans Hike & Mass
Each year, our 4th through 8th-grade students journey into the breathtaking San Juan Mountains for our annual school hike and outdoor Mass. This cherished tradition connects our community deeply to our namesake, Pope John Paul II, who possessed a profound love for the mountains and the great outdoors. Following in his footsteps, our students encounter God's grandeur in creation, cultivating physical endurance, camaraderie, and spiritual renewal amidst the peaks.
Winter Recreation & Outdoor Play
Colorado winters are a gift — and our students make the most of them. From snowball fights to outdoor recess in the San Juan foothills, student life at PJP2A embraces the beauty of the seasons.
Seasonal Events & School Traditions
From the annual Pumpkin Patch trip to holiday celebrations and school-wide gatherings, our calendar is filled with events that bring families and students together in joy and community.
Serving Our Community
Our students learn that service is not optional — it is a calling. Through programs like our Adopt-a-Street initiative with the City of Montrose, students put their faith into action by caring for the community around them.
Reading Buddies & Student Mentorship
Older students serve as reading buddies and mentors to younger classmates, celebrating milestones together and building a culture of encouragement and academic pride across all grade levels.
